Providing opportunities for healing and restoration from the devastation caused by compulsive sexual behaviour disorder and betrayal trauma through small group retreats and workshops for individuals and couples.

Compulsive Sexual Behaviour Disorder

Compulsive Sexual Behaviour Disorder (also referred to as sex addition) is a recognised condition in the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) under impulsive control disorders. It's defined by a persistent failure to control intense sexual urges and behaviours, leading to significant distress or impairment in life areas such as health, work and relationships, despite unsuccessful attempts to stop.  Similar to the way an alcoholic uses alcohol or a drug addict uses drugs, Compulsive Sexual Behaviouar Disorder interferes with normal living and causes severe stress on family, friends, loved ones and one’s work environment. It is a compulsive behaviour that dominates the addicts' lives.

Betrayal Trauma

Betrayal trauma refers to the profound psychological and emotional impact experienced by partners following the discovery of compulsive sexual behaviour outside of the primary relationship. Betrayal trauma is a complex, multi-layered trauma experience for partners.

Healing and Growth

We help individuals, couples, groups and families understand, process and grieve some of the trauma and losses they may be experiencing, and create opportunities for connection, healing and growth through small group retreats, workshops and intensives facilitated by some of Asia Pacific's leading specialists in this area.

individual therapy

Individuals

All our therapists work one on one with individual clients, and appointments are available either through the therapists websites, or by request with that therapist.

See contact details on Our Therapists page.

Couples

Working with one of our therapists will offer the opportunity for many couples to begin to rebuild their relationships after sexual betrayal. Couples therapy provides a unique opportunity for safety and connection and those of our therapists who offer couples support are very experienced, highly skilled therapists with many years of experience working with those struggling to recovery from the devastation resulting from Compulsive Sexual Behaviour Disorder [CSBD] and betrayal trauma.

Groups

Participating in one of our small group workshops/retreats will provide the opportunity for you to take a deeper dive into your own healing and recovery. All our workshops are tailored to address a specific need, whether that is CSBD, betrayal trauma or post-traumatic growth (for individuals and/or couples). Attending one of our workshops/retreats will help you move forward with more clarity and connection and a deeper understanding of yourself, your environment and the steps required to move into a better tomorrow.

Frequently asked questions

What is partner betrayal trauma, and how does it impact mental health?

Partner betrayal trauma refers to the emotional and psychological distress that individuals experience when their trust is violated by a partner. It can have profound effects on mental health, including anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Is it possible to rebuild trust after partner betrayal?

Many individuals wonder if it's feasible to repair a relationship after trust has been shattered. Discuss the steps involved in rebuilding trust, including open communication, transparency, and a commitment to change. It's essential to mention that not all relationships can be salvaged, and it depends on the willingness of both partners to work on it.

What is Full Therapeutic Disclosure and should I do this?
Full therapeutic disclosure is a process designed to start the healing process for couples impacted by sex addiction and betrayal trauma. This process is a 'Rite of Truth' facilitated by trained professionals in a safe and supported environment and is a mutual, planned event where the addict reads a document prepared in advance describing their history of sexual acting out, answers questions and begins the healing process. The betrayed partner is also able to share how they have been impacted by the addiction. Although this is a challenging process, and one which must be done with someone who is trained in this work, research shows that the vast majority of couples who participate in a full therapeutic disclosure feel afterwards that it was the right thing for them to do.
