Finding the Way Through Part 1

August 25 @ 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Finding the Way Through Part 1

Online Group

A guided workbook-based group for sobriety, recovery, and partner-betrayal sensitivity in response to sex and pornography addiction.

Group dates and time: Tuesdays or Wednesdays or Thursdays 25th August to 1 December 2026 (15 weeks) 11:00am–1:00pm NZST. Participants from Australia, the South Pacific and Asia are welcome to apply.

About the group

This group offers a structured and supportive pathway for people who want to stop acting out, establish sobriety, and build a solid foundation for ongoing recovery including the seeds of restoration in their intimate relationships, long lasting change (for real this time) and becoming the person of integrity you’ve always wanted to be. Using the workbook Finding the Way Through, participants will be guided through a process designed to help them understand addictive patterns, create sobriety, lay the foundation for lasting recovery and mutually fulfilling intimate partner relationships.

The group is suitable for anyone struggling with sex or pornography addiction who seriously want to break free. The only requirement is a willingness to engage honestly in the group process, show up as authentically as possible and work wholeheartedly with the workbook. Participants are expected to attend all 15 weeks.

Programme focus

The 2026 Part 1 group will focus on the first half of the workbook: Sobriety. A further group in 2027 (Part 2) will focus on the second half: Recovery. Committing to the Sobriety group does not require a commitment to the Recovery group; however, participants will need to complete the Sobriety group before enrolling in the Recovery group.

Facilitator

Andrew Connolly has worked with people struggling with sexual addictions, and with their partners for more than 20 years. He is qualified to work with both the person with the addiction (C-CASI) and partners of those with the addiction (APSATS). He regards this recently published workbook as one of the most thorough and useful resources available for this area of recovery. More information about him is available at www.counsellingcreatively.co.nz.

Couples group option

The workbook may also be highly relevant for couples who want to work together toward recovery from sexual addiction. This would be offered as a separate group at a different time from the group for those struggling with addiction. Please ask if you are interested in this option.

Workbook requirement

Participants must purchase a copy of Finding the Way Through by Jeanne Vattuone and Tim Stein before the group begins. Amazon Australia has generally been the most accessible place to purchase copies in this part of the world.

Registration

To request an application/registration form or ask any questions, please email Andrew at andrew@counsellingcreatively.co.nz and include whether Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays suit you best.

Registrations close: Monday, 17 August 2026.

Investment: $120 plus GST per 1.75 -2 hr session. Places are limited to a maximum of six participants, with a minimum of four participants required for the group to proceed.
